Privacy Policy
Izakaya Buddy is run by Ryosuke Kogure, an individual based in Japan, who is responsible for your personal information. Contact: [email protected].
1. What we collect and why
- Your Google account details — email address, name and Google account ID — to sign you in, keep your scans on your account, and contact you about purchases and support.
- Scan results — the text the AI read from your photo (dish names, prices, bill lines), a fingerprint of the photo (a one-way code, not the photo itself), the time, and technical details such as whether the scan succeeded. We use these to show your results, reuse the result if the same photo is scanned again, prevent abuse, and improve reading accuracy.
- Purchases — which pack you bought, the amount, the date and the payment reference — to add your scans, handle refunds, and keep the records the law requires.
- Sign-in session — a random code kept in your browser so you stay signed in. We store only a one-way code of it on our server.
2. What we don't collect
- We do not store your photos. A photo is sent to our AI provider to be read, and is not kept by us afterwards.
- Your dietary restrictions stay in your browser on your device. They are never sent to our server. (So they don't move to another phone, and they disappear if you clear your browser data.)
- We never see your card numbers or card details. Payments are handled by Stripe and Link.
- No advertising and no tracking. We don't use ad networks, tracking pixels or analytics cookies, and we don't sell your information.
3. Who processes your information, and where
We use these service providers, which handle information on our behalf:
- Cloudflare, Inc. (United States) — hosting, database and email forwarding. Data may be stored on Cloudflare servers in several countries.
- Anthropic, PBC (United States) — the AI that reads your photos.
- Stripe, Inc. (United States) and Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd. (Ireland), including Link — payments, receipts and payment support.
- Google LLC (United States) — sign-in.
Japan's Personal Information Protection Commission publishes information about the personal data protection systems of other countries, including the United States and the EU (Ireland). We choose providers that protect personal data under contract, and data is encrypted in transit.
4. How long we keep it
- Account details, scan results and purchases: until you delete your account. Purchase records may be kept longer where tax law requires it.
- Reused scan results for the same photo: 30 days.
5. Your choices and rights
You can ask us to show, correct or delete your information, or to stop using it, by emailing [email protected] from the email address you sign in with. We will reply within 30 days. Deleting your account also deletes the scans left on it. If you live in the EU or UK, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
6. Children
Izakaya Buddy is meant for adults. Izakaya serve alcohol; please follow the drinking age where you are (20 in Japan).
7. Changes
If we change this policy in an important way, we will show a notice in the app before it takes effect.
